From the dashboard view within Easy Data Pool™, under Quick Actions, select Add a GTIN item/s.

This will open a pop-up window with the wizard to add a new GTIN. Start by clicking on the ‘Add’ button. (multiple GTIN items can be added at one time).

After Add is selected, a GTIN and Product description can be entered. Enter this information and then click Next.

Cloning an item

On the next step, an existing item can be cloned so that it will populate all of the attributes of that existing item. This will make creation easier and then simply go and edit the fields that need to be updated (i.e. product description, MPC, weights, case dimensions, etc.). This will also ensure that no required fields are left blank.

After you click the item within the pop-up box, that GTIN item will now be listed in the box to the right of the ‘Populate attributes from’. Click the Next button.

The next step will allow you to choose which recipients you will be publishing the newly created item to. The recipients can be clicked one at or a time or you can check the ‘Select All’ button. Once the recipients are chosen, click Finish.

The new GTIN is now added with all of the attributes from the item that was cloned.

Editing cloned fields

To edit the fields that need to be changed, simply click on the value within that field and update. For example, if you click on the ‘Additional Trade Item Identifications', a pop-up box will appear. Simply type in the correct MPC and then click ‘Save Changes’.

Repeat this step for every field that needs to be updated to include Core, Nutritional, Marketing, and Digital Assets as needed.

Registering new GTINs

Lastly, go to the Recipients tab within the platform and click the “Register?” checkbox for any newly created/cloned GTIN. An item cannot be successfully published until it is Registered. Clicking that box sends a message to GS1 that takes 5 to 10 minutes. This step is complete when the checkbox changes to light grey and cannot be unselected.

Once all data is correct, click the button before the ‘CIC History’ column and then the ‘Sync Selected’ button at the top.
